To install this version, see this page:

http://chronojump.org/software.html

There are lots of new stuff, the most important is:

Server connection works completely

Statistics graphs are lot improved (using R instead of NPlot)

Installation is highly improved (thanks to Andoni Morales)

MultiChronopic (up to 4 Chronopics can be used simultaneously) also "Run Analysis" with two Chronopics (Josep Ma Padullés) has been added.

Visualization (theme) can be changed to be able to be managed in bad light/contrast ambients

Updated Manual

This is a really good moment to upload your data to server. In order to do it for a session, you will need to have person's data complete.

Note this version is not called 0.9 because there's lack of some translations to spanish, catalan, .... also while they are done, maybe a few little improvements will be added.

This version has a windows installer and three ways of being installed on Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora and source code).

This week we changed website design. There were 3 different information units: main page, web site, and forum. It wasn't clear for the use how to move inside the different places and how to jump between them.

Changes are:

Main page has been simplified: http://chronojump.org.

Visualization of all pages has been improved.

Deleted information that was not relevant.

5 top icons allow to move around easily. Also a link to change language is clear.

Styles have been unified: navigating on forum is similar than rest of site.

Deleted printable versions of pages because there were problems and with the "new look" all is more easy to print.

Fixed some broken links.

As an example of usability, any information visual or textual about Chronojump, now is always in "documents" place, and this is easy to remember.

We have lost translations (sacrified), maybe we recuperate them on August.

Now all is and seems more easy. We hope you like it.

The Bootloader, Firmware and needed software is here:
http://git.gnome.org/cgit/chronojump/tre...c-firmware

2.- BOOTLOADER

If you are creating Chronopics you need to first record the bootloader, ask to the firm that is creating them that they should record chronopic_bootloader.hex using the configuration word 3F39.

If you bought a Chronopic but you want to change firmware, then do'nt worry about Bootloader, it's recorded and you don't need to touch it.

3.- FIRMWARE

Currently there are two firmwares:

chronopic_firmware.hex (original with 50 ms of minimal detecting time)

chronopic_firmware_10ms_unvalidated.hex (new, untested yet with 10 ms of minimal detecting time)

4.- RECORDING FIRMWARE ON LINUX

Use the software PIC_downloader_1.2. This is a modified version of Skypic board PIC_downloader with a clock suitable for Chronopic

Connect Chronopic to PC

Uncompress PIC_downloader_1.2_chronopic.tgz

Go to newly created directory

Do:

./PIC_downloader chronopic_firmware.hex -P/dev/ttyUSB1

(Change /dev/ttyUSB1 for the used USB-serial port, maybe /dev/ttyUSB0)

You will see this:

Code:

$ ./PIC_downloader chronopic_firmware.hex -P/dev/ttyUSB1
PIC_downloader 1.2. Descarga de programas en la tarjeta Skypic
Licencia GPL

Fichero: chronopic_firmware.hex
Puerto serie: /dev/ttyUSB1

Esperando conexion: .........

Now the software is waiting to connect with the Bootloader on the Chronopic. Push RESET button on Chronopic and this will appear:

Code:

Esperando conexion: ...................................... - OK
Writing: - OK
Activating program... - OK

The duration is the process is 1 second approx. If at first time you don't succeed, just do it again.

If you want to do more tests, you can load a different firmware:
$ ./PIC_downloader ledp.hex -P/dev/ttyUSB1
This makes blink D1 led.

5.- RECORDING FIRMWARE ON WINDOWS

Use PIC_downloader_1.08_Windows.zip

Execute PIC_downloader.exe

Select the hex file you want, eg. chronopic_firmware.hex

Select the port to use (COM1, COM2, etc..)

Select the speed: 19200 (bauds)

Push botton "Write"

click reset on Chronopic

Firmware will record fast

6.- CHECKING

When it's recorded, remove USB cable and connect again. Then leds D1 and D4 will be permanently on. When you push test button D1 status will change.

The original Chronopic firmware has an electronic rebound time of 50 ms. This times is suitable to filter problems with non-pure electrical contacts. It's ok to filter double contacts and this time is enough small for jumps (chronopic initial purpose) because in jumps there are no contact times or flight times lower than this.

But now lots of users use the software to reaction time and rhythms, for this reason we have changed the limitation of 50ms to 10ms in a new experimental firmware. You can find this firmware here:

chronopic_firmware_10ms_unvalidated.hex
http://git.gnome.org/browse/chronojump/p...mwares.zip

Note that this firmware has not been fully tested yet.

To record the firmware just follow this instructions:
"Record Chronopic Firmware"
http://forum.chronojump.org/showthread.php?tid=20

After recording to 10ms you can record again to 50ms using the original firmware. You can find it also in the same zip as 10ms firmware.

This solves the problem of connecting an encoder as it's being discussed here (spanish):
"Encoder potencia"
