Petition: new features
If you want new features in Chronojump, just reply this post. We are continuously adding new functionalities to the software.

In the other hand, if you just want to add new tests, reply to this post:

RE: Petition: new features
First of all, i'd like to appreciate that someone works on this software. I'm a big fan of open systems.
Just for considering, I have a few tips for you.

- users should be managed separately from sessions. Like in DB environment, there should be a pool of users, loadable into sessions. Collation could be more effective by using more items (both names, YoB, location,..)
- i'm missing a multiple selection of items (when loading users etc.)
- we are testing a huge amount of athletes. For easiest management, usage of user templates with custom fields could be a big enhancement. Then we could simply create a template par example for volleyball players in one city on same skill level, same year of birth, same team.. and then just change few items in template when adding a new entry.

Thanks, Pavel.

RE: Petition: new features
Hello snaper (Pavel)

I also appreciate open system projects Wink

I think some of the things you ask for are already implemented, but maybe could be more powerful, or easy to find or easy to use. Just discuss now:

There's a pool of users loadable into sessions. You can use:
-"Person / Load person"
-"Person / Load Persons from other session"

The first allows to load a person that was created in another session, and the second allows you to load a bunch of persons from load to session

This works, I think what you are talking about is that there's a need to have more items in order to easy find the desired person.
We never thought on that because for us using the "Load Persons from other session" is really powerful, but of course more can be done. Just write a bit more complete information on what you exactly need and maybe is really easy and fast to develop it.

Ok, this is related to what I told you above.
What items do you need?

There's no template, but there's something quite similar (but less powerful), I don't know if you tried.
When you create a new session, you can define "Persons's data", and this will be a default for all the created persons.
This works for both the person creation ways:
-"Person / New Person"
-"Person / New Persons (multiple)"
After creating, you can also change the values for every individual person.

Just continue talking and I'm sure lot's of thinks can be improved.

Lastly you have to now that there's a server to share data between users (and non-users) and if you are testing a huge amount of athletes, your contributions can be really useful.

Server is here:
http://chronojump.org/server.html

And using it is as easy as:
"Tools / Server / Upload (or update) session to server"

We believe on open software, open hardware, open formats and open data.

Thanks for your post

RE: Petition: new features
Xavi thank you for a constructive form. I am glad to know that I can help (although indirectly) to this community by uploading my results. I owe many, using Linux, applications and finally Chronojump itself.

I' ve been already discovering server results. Here I have to say that there were really unexpected values and midranges.
My colleague has over 1000 athletes measured and BEST results are around 60cm, this server declares that value as AVERAGE (talking about CMJ type).

Hence I'm little bit confused here because many of those athletes are on elite level (volleyball).

I have two explanations. One of them could be that pad gives bad results (but it is already one another using Bosco's system). And another, that there wasn't used required technique of jump (no hands). This is not a try to accusing someone, but find the crux of problem.

We are trying to make some deepest analysis through our measurements to define new dependencies in physiology and even methodology of results representation.
So worldwide accurate results should be a big help.
But momentarily isn't defined a group of "reliable" samples (evaluators respectively) wide enough.

Maybe a little bit out of topic, I' ve extended my reply by another aspects.

Pavel

RE: Petition: new features
Hello again,

-searching:
CMJ
Variable: Flight time!!
Man
(Other variables as undefined)
-Result is: 0.59, but 0.59 seconds of flight time. This means: 42.642 cm.

If you got confused is because the results need to have the "cm" or "seconds" text after. I thought that the "variable" selector was enough clear, but I see now, it isn't. We will add this in next release. I just marked as something to do:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=631505

CMJ should be a no arms jump. Abalakov is the same with arms.
We found some discussion in DJ and we have a DJ with and without arms (the selector comes when user press DJ button).

In a nearly future there will be a group of reliable researchers with their data on the server and a normal group as described here: http://chronojump.org/server.html#reliability
Now you can upload the data, and your data maybe will be marked as reliable.
In future versions, the "reliability form" will come as someone uploads their data.

Thanks again for your cooperation. Bye!

Mea culpa.
I've been looking only on screenshots in "server" section of this web. I haven't noticed that there's in text "flight time" used. Looking on graphs with "Heights by jumps..", I though it's a height of measured jumps. Thank you for clarify that.

Do you plan to provide a DB scheme and let anyone to query your server? I guess there are much more information to gather, including dependencies between values and correlations of them.

In addition, in case you will find to be useful have some information translated to Czech language or another thing I can help with, do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,
Pavel

RE: Petition: new features
Hello again

I was talking about the Chronojump tool: "Tools / Server / Query to server". Try that!!
i see now that the text on the web graphs could be more clear. Thanks.

The DB schema is on the net:

http://git.gnome.org/browse/chronojump/p...sqlite.png

and the software of the server and the client are free:

http://git.gnome.org/browse/chronojump/t...ump_server
http://git.gnome.org/browse/chronojump/tree/src

... Then an advanced user can create some webservice that gathers that kind of information. At the moment we have developed our tools to show the graphs, make queries, ... and I'm working on having relationships within the variables and more stuff as part of my PhD.
Maybe in the future someone writes code to gather more information.

If you want to help you can:
- Upload your data to server
- Talk friends about Chronojump
- Invite as to some talk there Wink

Bye

RE: Petition: new features
Hi,
Before I send my remarks, let me introduce myself shortly. I am an Exercise Physiologist (Human movement studies Amsterdam) and athletics coach (sprint and hurdles) for 20 years. Last year I was physical coach of a top soccer team in The Netherlands.
Also, I've performed and supported several researches world wide. I wrote an article on force plates: http://www.galileo2000.nl/new/nl/product...l_v2.html. It's in Dutch, but with the temporary translator programs...

--------------------

To start with, let me say that the software is easy to use. There's several test forms available (I will add some suggestions here http://forum.chronojump.org/showthread.php?tid=3 later on).

For evaluation I would be very happy if I could select on test data. This way I can see the improvement in time in a blink.

Hello Martin, welcome aboard!

There was a problem with a final dot '.' at the end of the link. Correct link is:
http://www.galileo2000.nl/pics/Kracht_Te..._dec09.pdf

I will translate it to my personal use, do you want I put this translation on the forum?

I'm not sure if I understood this. If you go to "Statistics" and then to Session tab, you can select the statistics you want across different sessions (time). Can you refine a bit what you need?

Bye!

Surely you can put the article on the forum.

Sorry, I used the wrong term (data, not date).
I prefer to draw a dispersion graph, where the X variable will be the test date. This is not possible in all settings, and selecting a date is not possible at all. [/b]
