We are developing a linear encoder.

On July 30 the building and testing on Taiwan ends and then prototypes will be sent to Barcelona to test again and prepare shipments.

At the moment we cannot announce price or release date, but we can say that it will have a price lot lower than other firms and will be high quality.

All the people who are thinking on buy an encoder but cannot afford the 2000-3000 Euros of other products, just need to wait a few months.

On this forum thread we will update informations. Also use it to ask questions.

Cheers.
Encoder has been connected successfully to Chronopic and data is readed and sent to computer.

Sensibility is 1mm at 1KHz. This means that can detect changes of 1mm and it does 1000 times per second.
Average error is 1.1mm.
Max length of string is 2.5m.
Max detectable speed is 50m/s.

This data comes from Taiwan tests. Units are coming and soon we will do more testing.

We could reach more precision but this equals the most expensive products in market, and also reaching more precision puts more complexity on firmware.

Cheers

Interesting,Xavi.
What are the practical possibilities of the encoder ?
Chronojump encoder has been presented today in the Philippines Phases conference

http://phases2012conference.weebly.com/s...enues.html

Hardware is working good, and software base is good. Next two weeks in Taipei we will work a lot in improving the software and adapting the Chronopics.

We hope to start selling encoders past Apr 10.
We just published a graph on the status of our encoder:

This graph will be updated daily.

You can also check the complete code here:

The "Conversion Chronopic 3 to be used as an encoder" page is now available:

http://chronojump.org/converting-chronop...coder.html

Users that want an encoder will receive the Chronopic converted.

Users that already have a Chronopic and want to use it to read from encoder, can send it to us, or convert it themselves. The bootloader part is not easy. When Chronopic is converted it cannot be used for jumps.

Cheers.

Saludos y bienvenido
Encoder is available, check tests, products and pricing pages.

Cheers!
Xavi,
Thanks for your email. As I understand the encoder is in production and available for preorder and by the time it will ship the chronojump software will be updated, right? Do you have a date for the shipping/updating of the encoder related products?
